Domino
Sometime in June 2018, my best friend, Bianca, randomly messaged me asking if Mike and I were interested in adopting a one-year old Alaskan Malamute named Steve. He was being rehomed by a friend of her friend and they wanted Steve to go to someone trusted. Bianca knew that I’ve always wanted a husky or a malamute so she immediately thought of me. Mike and I jumped the gun and said yes! Steve, who we renamed to Domino, turned out to be a very timid and scared doggo. It takes him a while to adjust to a new environment and to warm up to people. His first night with us, he couldn’t even walk through the front door! Now, he runs all around the house and out the gate (a major feat, trust me!) It’s been a great joy watching Domino break out of his shell and come into his own doggo. They really are like humans, with their own personalities and hang-ups lol Domino is the gentlest and sweetest Malamute you’ll ever meet. But unfortunately, he and Cú don’t get along. We tried introducing them a few times. I can see Domino is curious and wants to be friends but he panics and gets defensive when Cú tries to play with him. Because of that, the two puppers have to live separately. Cú lives with me while Domino lives with Mike’s family. I don’t get to see him as often as I’d like. Sometimes, I worry he’ll forget who I am but I’m proven wrong each time I visit and he greets me in that same excitable way he did during his first few days with us. We really got so lucky with him. My big baby boi 🥰
