We chanced upon this exhibition at the Museum of Costume and Fashion in Pitti Palace. It was such a treat to see all these Haute Couture creations in person. I remember seeing a few of them on the runway but you hardly get to appreciate the fine details of these pieces from photos. It always amazes me how designers are able to manipulate fabric to create sculptural and statement pieces - a testament to the imagination and artistry needed to be a fashion designer.
Animalia Fashion was curated in a way to recreate a sort of zoological stroll, wherein each room was dedicated to a different animal species. From various insects to birds, corals to crocodiles, this exhibition just goes to show that inspiration can come from anywhere if one just has the mind to look.
