Kota Kinabalu

For my 25th birthday, Mike and I flew to Kota Kinabalu with Monica and her (then) boyfriend. I don’t know why but for some reason we decided to be extra active this trip and signed up for a “local village” bike tour and an early morning hike. I honestly thought the bike would be cute like a vintage bike with a rattan basket and that the local village would be quaint little huts. But no, it was a 13 km ride per way on a mountain bike and the village looked like any market in the Philippines lol to top it all off, Mike had some trouble with his bike. Thought that would be our excuse to call for a car. (Un)fortunately, our tour guide was able to have it fixed and we finished the tour. I’d like to say we finished strong but no lie, I thought I was gonna faint when we were riding our bikes at noon on the highway back to the hotel. Immensely rewarded ourselves with poolside burgers after. I believe that’s what you call a balanced lifestyle.

The morning hike was a much easier activity. The hardest part about it was getting out of bed so early. It came with a simple breakfast set-up at the peak. It was nice but as soon as we got back to the hotel, we made a beeline for breakfast buffet. Like I said, balanced lifestyle 🤷🏽‍♀️
